Artist Statement
I paint the things that make you happy. Flowers in full bloom, powerful ocean waves, moments of beauty that are precious because they're fleeting.
There's an urgency to my work. I watch the magnolia tree in my garden bloom, and within a day those stunning white petals start to fade. That sense of temporary beauty drives everything I create. I want to preserve these moments on canvas before they disappear.
Working with mixed media – oil, acrylic, charcoal, oil pastel, and graphite – I build up layers of texture using both palette knife and brush. The heavy texture creates dimension that changes as light moves across the surface. My abstract impressionistic style balances bold, vibrant colors with softer, serene tones, maintaining recognizable forms while allowing freedom and movement.
