My Philosophy
Flowers bloom for days before they fade. I watch the magnolia tree in my garden and within a day, the once robust white petals are wilted and tarnishing to pale brown. I feel this urgency to capture their beauty on canvas before it disappears.
That's what drives everything I create—preserving fleeting moments of beauty in paintings designed to bring you joy every single day. Whether it's vibrant florals or powerful coastal scenes, each piece is made to lift your mood, to create that moment when you walk past and feel happiness.
My Journey
I come from a family of artists. My great-grandmother was a landscape painter, and I loved watching her create beautiful landscape works. I sat for hours with my grandfather, whose family were very artistic and creative. I can remember sitting in his sunroom sketching the vast hills and meadows and the odd little farmhouse we could see from the windows. We also used to play in the garden and study the flowers.
Born in England, I graduated with a degree in Business and Marketing and worked as a marketing professional in Manchester for over ten years. During that time, I painted during spare moments and weekends, quenching a desire that had been with me since childhood.
In 2009, my husband's job brought us to Atlanta. That move gave me the opportunity to take up my brushes and palette knife more permanently and turn a lifelong hobby into a thriving international art career. Now, as a wife and mother of two boys, I work from my studio at home while they're at school, finding inspiration all around me in the things that make us feel happy.
My Work
My style has evolved from traditional impressionistic florals to a more abstract and free format. I work with mixed media—oil, acrylic, charcoal, oil pastel, and graphite—building up loose, expressive layers on canvas with both palette knife and brush. The palette knife creates distinctive heavy texture and visible dimension that sets my work apart.
While the approach is abstract and gestural, the paintings still hold the shape, texture, and form of florals and coastal scenes. This balance between freedom and recognition creates my unique style: bold enough to make a statement, serene enough to live with daily. The layers of texture mean each painting changes as light moves across it throughout the day, revealing new details with every viewing.
I love bold, vibrant colors balanced with softer tones. The goal is art that immediately lifts your mood but also rewards longer viewing as you discover the depth in the layers.
My Practice Today
I've been fortunate to exhibit my work at venues including the Atlanta Botanical Garden, where I had a solo show "Influenced by Flowers" in 2023. My paintings are represented by galleries across the Southeast and Florida, and I have collectors throughout the United States, UK, Europe, and Australia.
Gallery Representation: Oil Art Advisory (Cheshire, UK) | Gallery Annette (Birmingham, AL) | Buckhead Art and Company (Atlanta, GA) | Frameworks Gallery (Atlanta, GA) | Beverly McNeil Gallery (Birmingham, AL) | Stellers Gallery (Jacksonville, FL) | Ocean Art Gallery (Ormond Beach, FL) | and others across the Southeast
Beyond original paintings available through galleries and my website, I also create custom commissions: wedding bouquet paintings, pet portraits, beach family scenes, and personalized florals. These commissions allow me to preserve your most meaningful moments in the same textured, joyful style.
